Della's Haiku

Doggone dog, gone to
Rejoin the Eye from which she
Sprang. Leap high and bark!

(Della was my sister's dog, who was a bit abused as a puppy before my sister adopted her. She turned out to be lovely with humans with no other dogs present but slightly insane, incurably insane, with other dogs. Dogs they might encounter on walks (and sometimes people who were with those dogs) but also including Gigi, my sister's other dog who was getting quite old. One day she tore into Gigi right in front of my sister and ripped her up quite a bit, and my sister had to have her put down. This poem was written for my sister as much as for Della...)
