Preamble
It has been a half century since the two separate Koreas were
established on the Korean peninsula - South Korea in August of
1948 and North Korea in September of the same year. It was in
1972 that the so-called July 4 South-North Joint Communique
established a broad framework of principles for the eventual
unification. The Communique provided the basis - the lightening
rod - for commencing studies of the issues of the Korean
unification; since then many hundreds of articles, books, research
reports and studies have been published - in Korean, Japanese and
English, in particular. This bibliography is selected from the
English language materials and we plan to maintain it in an open
manner in that any and all readers are welcome to send in
additional materials.
