LaTeXI have tought a one-session LaTeX mini-lesson as part of the computing seminar at the Duke Physics Department. You can download a PDF file [1.6M] of my LaTeX mini-lesson Additionally, the following links are the example files demonstrated in my LaTeX mini-lesson: LaTeX Equation PDFsI've posted some instructions for making stand-alone PDF equations from LaTeX. The PDF file is just big enough to hold the typeset equation. This can be useful for slide shows where a suitable program exists for presenting slides with PDF images in them. Even with the extra steps I find it faster than the MS Equation Editor (PowerPoint) or the OpenOffice mathematical language. Furthermore the souce code for the PDF can be re-used easily since LaTeX is portable and universal. LaTeX misc.If you want more LaTeX information, see my LaTeX reference directory. Also feel free to browse my texmf/ directory for some standard packages as well as custom tidbits that I've installed. For example the prosper style file for letter-sized ps slides PPRdefletter.sty. Remember if you add files to your texmf directory you will need to run "mktexlsr" in order to tell TeX/LaTeX about what you have added. LaTeX thesis class (Whitman College)The LaTeX thesis class that I've touched up since graduating from Whitman is here for your typesetting pleasure: The LaTeX class file is needed to typeset a thesis based on the Whitman College Honors Thesis guidelines. The links below are individual files. These files should be in the directory with your thesis *.tex file. See the included example for usage. |
