ABSTRACT: Data taken from Run II at CDF are analyzed in search
of evidence of the production of excited muons. Such a discovery would
indicate the existence of
lepton substructure. We search for excited muons which are produced
according
to the reaction p + pbar → m* + m -> mg + m.
We
search for mmg
events in the Run II data in a contact-interaction model and a
gauge-mediated model. The
central region of the CDF detector is used for muon detection. Both the
central and
plug region of the detector are studied for photon detection, but only
central
photons are used in the data analysis presented here. All candidate
events are
consistent with the predicted number from backgrounds. Therefore a 95%
confidence level
cross-section limit is calculated, and from this, the m* mass limit is found.
