"Old" Requirements for the B.A. Degree as of Fall 2011

Physics Courses

41L and 42L   or   53L and 54L   or   61L and 62L.

143L, 176, 181, and 211.

One experimental course: either 171L, 217S, or a laboratory based independent study course. Note: an engineering student double majoring in physics can satisfy the 171L requirement by completing instead EE 27L and EE 51L or instead BME 153L and BME 154L.

One additional physics course numbered above 100 except for Physics 115 and Physics 230.

Mathematics Courses

31, 32, 103, plus one additional course above 100.

Common courses to satisfy the last requirement are Math 104, Math 107, Math 108, Math 131, or Math 135. The Physics department also allows physics majors to take Physics 230 for the fourth required mathematics course.
