Many new graduates pursue advanced degrees in the arts and sciences. They undertake research toward a doctoral thesis under the mentorship of senior faculty and develop collaborative relationships with these and other departmental faculty. Many expect to become mentors and teachers of future undergraduates. It is not unusual for students to follow these paths after employment for a few years between their AB/BS degrees and the start of a graduate program.
