Hello Everyone, The letter to the Chronicle of Higher Education has been sent. Whether or not they choose to publish it, I think that recognizing the issue is a good initial step to have taken together. The letter already appears on the Chronicle of Higher Education's website: http://chronicle.com/letters/2004/02/2004020403l.htm If the letter appears in the next print issue, it will not have the full list of names. The Chronicle of Higher Education allows no more than three names, so Ilarion, Amanda and myself will be named and the number of additional signatures will be included. A meeting emphasizing gender issues in the physics department is currently in the planning stages and will hopefully happen soon. I encourage everyone to continue focusing on identifying and correct climate issues in the semesters to come. Thank you for all of your input and concerns, John -- /////////////////////////////////////////////// // John Wambaugh /// // Duke University Office: 048 Physics // // Physics Department (919)660-2549 // // Box 90305 (919)451-5400 (cell) // /// Durham, NC 27708-0305 // ///////////////////////////////////////////////
