Chiral Perturbation Theory: Introduction and Applications
Brian Bunton
Chiral perturbation theory is a powerful effective field theory in the
realm of low energies. My talk will begin with an introduction to effective
field theory. I will review the Standard Model and hadronic structure. The
concept of chiral symmetry will be introduced, and then I will break it (gently).
I will then present a theory that exploits chiral perturbation and comment
upon salient features and their applications. Finally, I will present a dusting
of my work and attempt to explain how it fits in.
