I am Yang Yang from Nanjing China. I stayed in my hometown for 22 years, from birth until graduation. I received my B.Sc. from Nanjing University in Theoretical Physics.
Although, I travel a lot, I missed my hometown so much that, at first, I was thinking whether I should leave and go back or should I stay. However, the atmosphere of Duke Physics kept me going forward and I was impressed that the people here are smart, competitive but really friendly and nice. They share both academic ideas and life interests.
I am very
interested in photonics and joined a joint research group in Duke
Physics and Duke ECE.
Professor
April Brown and
Professor
Henry Everitt lead the group as a part of the
Fitzpatrick
Institute for
Photonics. I now work on the N-based Semiconductor using SE-embeded MBE
system and I may select a project either on surface dynamics or
quantum structure. One of my research goals is about efficient
white
lasers which may be achieved by QW or QD or both. Besides my
research, I am serving as the President of Duke Physics
Graduate Student Organization
and a member of Duke Young Trustee Screening
Committee.
