  • December 4, 2008:
    Carolyn Berger (G02) defended her Final Examination and her Thesis, and she passed. Congratulations! Her advisor is Prof. Dan Gauthier.
  • December 1, 2008:
    Dean Hidas (G02) defended his Final Examination and his Thesis, and he passed. Congratulations! His advisor is Prof. Mark Kruse.

    Alan Dunn (G05) defended his Master's Examination and his Thesis, and he passed. Congratulations!

  • November 1, 2008: Physics Department Fall Celebration
    The party was in celebration of Prof Tom Mehen's tenure, at the home of the Behringer's. In the picture, the faculty members were standing, while graduate students were sitting, just like in classes.
  • October 24, 2008:
    The GSO started to have a Physics Happy Hour last Friday. People seem to like it! There were ice cream instead of beverages.

  • October 1, 2008:
    James Joseph (G03) awarded a Fritz London Graduate Fellowship for 2008.
  • September 2008:
    Hans Norrell (G04) awarded a Graduate Teaching Fellowship (2008–2009). He will be helping Prof. Plesser with the PHY 55 course on astronomy.
  • September 2008:
    Again, Abhijit Mehta (G06) wins a research award in association with being chosen as a "Graduate Mentor in the University Scholars Program for 2008-09". He was given the award last year too.

  • August 20, 2008:
    Huaixiu Zheng (G08) has been awarded a Nanoscience Fellowship for the Fall 2008. He will take his fellowship (RA) in the Spring Term 2009.

    The department has nominated Kristine Callan (G05), Willie Ong (G07), Mark Steadman (G07), and Rena Zhu (G07) as the AAPT Outstanding Teaching Assistant Awards for 2008 through the American Associate of Physics Teachers (AAPT).
