Procedure for Application
All applications are handled by the Duke Graduate School, and only electronic applications are accepted. See the Graduate School's Admissions, including information, requirements, and applying online.
Beyond the Graduate School's requirements, the Physics Department also requires the GRE Physics Subject score. There are more details in the FAQ.
Completed applications and supporting documents should be sent to the Graduate School before December 31.
The Director of Graduate Studies (DGS), or other members of the department faculty, or current students, are glad to answer specific questions from prospective students. Applicants are encouraged to visit Duke to see the physics department and the campus first-hand, and to meet all of us. In the months of March and April, we hold special visits on Thursday afternoons and all day Friday.
