    PHY 304: Advanced Topics in Statistical Mechanics

    Course Description

    This course will vary from year to year.

    Possible topics include phase transitions, fluctuations and correlations, renormalization group, elasticity, hydrodynamics, liquid crystals, glasses, granular materials, Fermi liquids, systems of bosons, many-body theory, nonequilibrium statistical mechanics, Monte-Carlo simulation.

    Prerequisites

    Physics 203 and 315.
