APCTP Young Scientist Training Program at the Postdoctoral Fellow Level
(http://www.apctp.org):
The Asia Pacific Center for Theoretical Physics (APCTP) solicits
applications for a few positions for the Young Scientist Training Program at
the postdoctoral fellow level in theoretical physics and related fields.
APCTP, first founded in 1996, is a non-governmental organization aiming for
an international center dedicated to excellence in research and the training
of young scientists in the Asia-Pacific region. Applicants are expected to
have demonstrated exceptional research potential, with significant
contributions beyond or through the doctoral dissertation. Applications from
member countries of the Center, in particular South Asian Countries, are
strongly encouraged.
The monthly stipend starts from approximately W2,000,000 (Korean Won) per
month. Some funds for travel and research activities are available if
selected. The initial appointment is for one year, which is renewable up to
one or two additional years, depending on the research performance and the
availability of resources for the program. The new position typically
commences on September 1st each year, with the application deadline of
January 15th earlier that same year. However, applications and appointments
can also be made all year round on a continual basis, if requested and
available. Applicants should send a curriculum vitae with a list of
publications, a summary of research plans at APCTP, and three letter of
recommendations to:
Secretary,
Science Bldg. IV,
Pohang University of Science & Technology,
Pohang, 790-784 Korea.
If you have any questions, please send an e-mail to sec@apctp.org.
- The National Research Council of the National Academies
sponsors a number of awards for postdoctoral researchers at federal
laboratories. These awards provide generous stipends ($36,000 -
$65,000), and the opportunity to do independent research in some of the
best-equipped and staffed laboratories in the country.
Detailed program information, including instructions on how to apply, is
available on the NRC Research Associateship Programs Web site at:
www.nationalacademies.org/rap
Questions should be directed to the NRC at 202-334-2760 (tel) or
rap@nas.edu. There will be four review cycles annually.
Applicants should begin a dialog with prospective advisors at the lab as
early as possible, before their anticipated application deadline.
- Positions available in LBNL Physics Division
The Physics Division at Lawrence Berkeley National
Laboratory (LBNL) is seeking outstanding candidates for
several positions that are now open. Applicants should
apply to each position separately by following the
instructions given in each position description at
http://vista.lbl.gov/LBNLphysicsjobs/ .

- JILA Postdoctoral
Program. This program provides advanced research experience in
the years immediately after the Ph.D. degree. Applications are
accepted any time throughout the year and may be downloaded
from JILA's web site at http://jilawww.colorado.edu
JILA is devoted to research and applications in the fields of laser
technology, optoelectronics, precision measurement, surface
science and semiconductors, information and image processing,
materials and process science, as well as basic research in
atomic, molecular and optical physics, precision measurement,
gravitational physics, chemical physics, astrophysics, and
geophysical measurements. Laboratory and theoretical studies
conducted in JILA are often complemented by observational
programs at other astronomical and space-research facilities.
Appointments are for one year and are generally renewable for a
second year. The institute makes no restrictions as to
citizenship
of the applicants except as may be imposed by the conditions of
individual contracts. Salaries are in the range of $35,000 -
